Wat is een Akkoord? - Cursus

In deze cursus benaderen we de harmonieleer praktisch. De docent biedt je handvatten om met je instrument of stem op reis te gaan in de wondere wereld van de harmonie. Dit opent je oren en geeft je een nieuwe kijk op de muziek die je speelt.
We kijken allereerst naar de verschillende soorten akkoorden en benoemen die. Vervolgens vragen we ons af wat je in de praktijk met die akkoorden kunt doen. Akkoorden benoemen lijkt op woord benoemen: je kent de regels van het spel, maar daarmee ben je nog niet automatisch een ervaren en creatieve speler!
We vragen ons af waarom bepaalde akkoorden een gevoel van beweging geven en andere niet. Waarom passen bepaalde akkoorden en akkoordcombinaties in klassieke muziek en andere niet? Welke akkoorden zitten er in jouw muziekstuk? Wat heb je aan die kennis? Kun je horen welk akkoord er klinkt? Kun je dat akkoord zelf ten gehore brengen? Hoe tover je een melodie tevoorschijn uit akkoorden?
Misschien kom je tot de ontdekking dat je in je eentje op je dwarsfluit of zingend onder de douche al jarenlang allemaal akkoorden hebt gespeeld!
Tip: deelnemers kunnen de docent van tevoren een stuk toesturen. De docent pikt er daar eentje uit. Hij vertelt over de akkoorden in dat stuk en licht zo een tipje van de sluier op over de werking van harmonie!
Er wordt van je verwacht dat je noten kunt lezen (bij voorkeur zowel in de viool- als de bassleutel); dat je een noot op afroep kunt spelen en dat je enigszins vertrouwd bent met begrippen als interval, toonladder en toonsoort. We zullen al improviserend bepaalde akkoorden en akkoordopeenvolgingen spelen. Barokversieringen - Cursus

In de baroktijd werden niet alle noten die moesten klinken ook daadwerkelijk in de bladmuziek genoteerd. Muzikanten wisten zelf welke versieringen ze toe mochten voegen en konden op die manier hun creativiteit laten zien.
Versieringen aanbrengen in de muziek is geen eenvoudige zaak, daarom pakken we het in deze workshop stapje voor stapje aan en creëren zo een stevige basis.
Aan de hand van korte stukjes ensemblemuziek die je vooraf bestudeert, leer je in deze cursus al spelend en onderzoekend verschillende manieren om muziek te versieren. Hoe versier je renaissancemuziek, hoe barokmuziek? Kunnen we zelfs aan muziek van Mozart versieringen toevoegen? Wat zijn de verschillen, de overeenkomsten? Hoeveel schrijf je van tevoren op? Waar vind je je opties?
Er gaat een wereld voor je open als je je verdiept in de kunst van het versieringen maken! De vaardigheden die je in deze workshop opdoet, zullen van pas komen bij nieuwe stukken die je op je repertoire neemt.

De Franse barok staat bekend om de vele versieringen. Soms kun je zelfs een zinnetje vinden met meer opgeschreven versieringen dan noten. Hoe voer je die nou uit? Waar vind je informatie over een versiering waarvan je het symbool niet kent?En misschien ben je ook wel benieuwd of er nog meer versieringen toegevoegd kunnen worden (ja!) en hoe? En hoe zit het met de invloed op de Engelse muziek? En gebeurt er misschien zelfs nog meer in de Franse muziek op het gebied van improvisatie?Een overzicht waarin veel voorbeelden worden gegeven, waar je een stuk (muziek)geschiedenis meekrijgt en gereedschappen om zelf mee verder te gaan.(en je kunt natuurlijk vragen stellen). -

Game of Themes - Utrecht

A spectacle of improvised classical music inspired by the audience.
Already in Ancient Greek times musicians competed: to get a job, to show off, or because an emperor thought it would be entertaining. And later Mozart competed with Clementi, Bach was challenged by Marchand, Scarlatti and Handel competed and so on…
Improvisation was amongst the most important ways to show yourself the true winner. In Game of Themes you experiences the excitement of the audiences from the past, giving themes and ideas, finding out in the moment what the musicians can do with this new musical idea.
The ideas from the past are enriched by the ideas of long form improvisation theatre, where small games and audience suggestions slowly work towards a longer story, which, in a way, everyone has created together.
How many ways are there to throw the ball- the ball being the theme in the playground of improvisation? How many balls can we keep in the air? And how do we make a story from these different balls?

Bal Masque - Amsterdam

Ball Masqué
A participation event with dance, music and text. You will participate in the dances, which will be learned in situ.
N.B.: 1.5 meters distance will be safe guarded and face masks function as part of the ball masque.
Have you also missed dancing to live music, meeting people and interacting with them more than just circumstantially from a distance?
In the past many people lived equally isolated lives. The bal masque, with its beautiful music, swirling dances and social events, was one of the few places where social interaction, distanced by conventions from the past, took place.
In our event we invite you to experience a bal masque inspired by this past. Once you enter through the doors, you will be one of the attendants of the ball, albeit a practice ball where the dancing master will teach you (a simple part of) the dances. Through little texts we heighten the experience and if you want, you can get a small, tiny action or a few words sent to you beforehand, so you can even have a few seconds of acting as part of the ball.
In no other period of our lives may we be so connected to the isolated lives of the visitors of these balls masques. Come and experience the mask recontextualised, dance with us to improvised music and find out what happens at our bal masque.
